Interior influencer Carly Jones has racked up more than 185,000 followers on her Instagram page Carlys Home Ideas. Carly shares images and videos of her family home.

Her interior style is contemporary chic, featuring plenty of white, clean lines and perfectly styled shelving. The same finish has been applied to her outdoor space

Carly enlisted the help of Rose Hill Garden Design to design and build her dream garden. This included both the rear and a side space, nicknamed ‘Our Little Retreat’.

The Garden Project

The side retreat was completed first, featuring porcelain white tiles, to tie into the white interior of Carly’s house. It also matches custom built planting beds.

It also features a bespoke water blade with porcelain cladding and a planting scheme of whites and greens. This makes for a contemporary yet comfortable space to relax.

A trio of large, white, freestanding planters were provided by Taylor Made Planters. They were planted with Buxus to finish off the space perfectly.

The rear garden followed suit, taking around three months to design and build.

For this larger space, Carly’s brief for the team at Rose Hill was to create a “very modern space”.

It needed to be perfect for entertaining as the family is very social.

It also needed to be suitable for the family to relax and unwind after busy days.

To meet the multi-use brief in the back garden, the  team created several different zones.

The space features a decked area for entertaining, a chilled area with a hot tub, focal point with a spherical water feature and floating cedar bench, and finally a paved area, which is due to be finished off next year with an outdoor kitchen.

It features both sofa and dining table sets, offering both formal and informal settings for dining and relaxing with friends and eating al fresco all year round.

Materials

The key materials used for the hard landscaping were composite and porcelain, with accessories including a glass balustrade, powder coated metal screens and stylish, modern lighting that really sets the mood for summer evenings.

The planting in this space was chosen and carried out by Carly herself, who says she was “very particular” with her requirements for this.

The simple scheme includes a selection of Olea europaea (Olive Tree), Buxus and Photinia (Red Robin). In the summer, she added various potted plants to the decked area in a bid to soften the space.
